Re-homed animals
Here are some pictures of
recently re-homed animals. More pictures and stories can be found
in the archive.
 These
two were the last of 8 pups that finally found a good home
in June 2008.
This
little dog had several people feeding her but she now got a fab
new home with a young boy. (June 2008)
These
2 kittens didn't have to wait long for a new home. Both went to different
lovely homes thanks to Kenmare Veterinary. (June 2008)
Dali
got a new home after a short time of waiting.
Turvey
was awaiting a new home with his sister. Unfortunately his sister
was killed on the road where he was living. But we are pleased to
say we found him a new home with another cat and they get on great
and live the life of luxury.
These two kittens were found in Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry. They were bottle
fed and when ready went to a fabulous home together.
 George
and Mirleen were re-homed to very good homes as the owner was moving
away.
Bailey
was very quick to find a home. The foster home he was in found him
a placement without our help.
Blacky
took a very long time to be re-homed but finally a lovely family adopted
her out just weeks before we had a call to say she was going to be
put to sleep.
Sometimes it takes a lot longer to re-home an animal, for no other
reason but the right person has not been found. Eventually every
animal will find someone right for them. (Updated May 2008)
 These
3 kittens were found starving as the mother had been re-homed before
it was realised that she had given birth. The mother could not be
found as she ran away so we bottled fed the 3 babies. 2 were found
to have swollen hearts and one unfortunately was too weak to make
it past 6 weeks old. The other two (Clarkson totally healthy) stayed
together. (Updated May 2008)
This
little 6 month old cat is a real madam. She was bottle fed by a lady
from 2 weeks old and had a bad eye. 6 months on, and due to be spayed she
is a real character. We visited her in May 08 and she is adorable and having
lots of fun with the many other cats around her.
This
fine old black cat (featured on please read link)
was left for dead in the gutter. He was found and taken to the vet
where they discovered he had a broken jaw and collapsed lung due
to broken ribs. He was in a terrible state and was full of cat flu.
He now lives his days out amongst other cats and is spoilt rotten.
Queen
of all cats and the eldest of the group, this female is well looked
after after having serious cat flu. If left she would have surely
died.
 Suzie
(also shown as a puppy on 'this has to stop' page)
almost died a few years ago. She was with the Trust for almost a
year but then was re-homed to one of our relatives in England. We
had the privilege to go visit her a few months in England and are delighted
to inform you she is spoilt rotten and been living with another rescue
dog for over a year. We generally re-home in Ireland but this home was
with a family member and so we knew she would be looked after. They
came over to Kerry themselves to collect her. Her companion, Archie,
was found on a Dublin campsite starving and totally matted. 2 dogs,
who obviously now are very safe and very much loved. Please donate
what you can to help us help these animals. (May 2008)
Blacky
was once extremely feral and took almost one year to tame up. Here
is a recent picture of her enjoying the sunshine. Some animals
do not have a lot of human contact at the start of their life or
they may be ill treated. This cat is a good example of how with
time and TLC you can be rewarded by owning a lovely pet like her.
(May 2008)
Honky,
a 10 year old neutered and vaccinated dog has had 2 homes so far.
Both owners passed away. He had to have surgery on his ears, as
a medical condition which was left untreated for over 4 years
had caused a lot of blockage. 30 stitches around each ear later
he is flying and a happy little chappy who wants nothing but cuddles.
He does not act like an old dog either. He found a new home in
May 2008.
Whisper
(the multi coloured one in pic) was re-homed several months ago and
we have just received an update of her. As you can see she lives
with another cat and they get on great and are often found chasing
each other up and down the stairs. Whisper has caught her first rat
much to the delight of her owners. She loves being outside, but
spends a lot of time indoors too. The little girl of the family is
delighted with her after the family lost one of their cats earlier
last year. Her new buddy was also missing her sister cat but is now
ok and happy again since Whisper joined the family. Thanks to the
new owners of this cat, who once was unwanted and uncared for.
Casper was found by a lady on
the outskirts of Killarney desperately seeking food and shelter.
She rang the Trust and we took her to the vet where she stayed
until she was re-homed.
Now a few months on she is spoilt rotten and has the run of
a huge back garden and can sleep in the comfort of a warm
house whenever she wants to.
Hollie was amongst 20 dogs all
living outside. With not much shelter and not enough food
for everyone, times have been hard for them. Some are still
awaiting a new home but Hollie was one of the lucky ones.
After being bathed 3 times, vaccinated and spayed she has
come on in leaps and bounds. The only worry with her now is
she is getting a bit too heavy as the owners adore her so
much and spoil her rotten. A big Thank you to Lucy and her
family for adopting her.
Our description of Hollie, she is like a stuffed toy with
a heartbeat as she doesn't want to do anything except sit
by you and be fussed.
Grizzly was spotted not long
before Christmas and was obviously starving and very very
timid. We discovered some abnormality in his body and took
him to the vets. It turns out he was living his first year
of life almost permanently living in a kennel no bigger than
4 by 2 feet. Also because he was not allowed much freedom,
he was lying in his own urine. His chest should be white but
has been stained by his own waste. We collected him Christmas
Eve and on Christmas day he was eating a ham bone and enjoying
laying by the fire. A week later we visited him in his foster
home and he came running straight up to us. A few days later
he was given a permanent new home and is in the lap of luxury.
We will be visiting him in a few months with new pics.
This little tabby came with
two other kittens. He was successfully re-homed on his own
in the Beaufort area, Kerry.
These beautiful white kittens
were re-homed just outside of Killarney, Co. Kerry, to a
family who had a dog and loves the company of cats.
More pictures and stories will
follow soon - stay tuned.
